“A gift is not a gift until it is offered.”  Peter Block

A family is a human system defined by the patterns of conversation and the gifts that each family member brings to the others.  Conversations that focus on problems and shortcomings create systems of suppression while conversations about strengths and unique talents create expression and giving.  It is through conversation that people are encouraged to recognize and offer their gifts.

Karen, thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Landmark offers amazing courses as do you through your network. I firmly believe that the key to understanding things is found in the repeating patterns. :)

I just attended the community event for the Wisdom Course through Landmark Education. It was really powerful to remember that who we are is our “Network of Conversations.” In one of the exercises I had a huge insight that complimenting, encouraging and believing in someone is one of the biggest GIFTS we can give another. It starts to alter a possible negative conversation they may be having about themselves into a more positive conversation. If you don’t like your life – change your conversation about your life and your life changes. Pretty amazing! Thanks Lorraine for the reminder!
